Thank you very much.
These are not that difficult to do, but do require patience and time.
Anyone can try it, and be very good at it.

Excellent tips....Thank you!
The water/vinegar solution should only be used on the white egg, sine it will dilute and remove the dye from your egg, if used on already colored egg.

Also, sometimes the pencil lines still show after the egg is completed and the wax removed. In this case, you can use a regular eraser, and lightly erase these lines, before applying the polyurethane.

I know you and your daughter will have lots of fun making Pysanky.

I would like to get back into making Pysanky - I haven't made them in years. I used to really enjoy this pre-Easter tradition. I can't wait for my daughter to be old enough to learn make them with me.

A couple of troubleshooting tips:

If you have difficulty drawing straight lines on a round surface, you may use a clean rubberband as a guide for your pencil line. Just find a rubber band that fits snugly, but not too tightly (it IS an egg), around your egg and place it just to the side of where you would like your line One edge of the rubber band should butt right up against where your line is desired.

If you make a mistake with pencil, it may be wiped off your egg with a clean corner of paper towel dipped in diluted white vinegar. Just be careful not to use this "eraser" more than a couple of times because you will soften or wear away the eggshell.
