I think that schools should put more emphasis on recycling, so that students would encourage their parents to recycle, and help out with recycling at home.
In NY state various youth groups, and sports teams, would have a bottle drive, and their parents would drive them around the neighborhood to pick up bottles left for them at the curb. Also schools would have bottle drive on Saturdays in their parking lots, and people would bring their empty bottles there. Does anyone know if these type of recycling events still take place?

Thank you for this wonderful post. I hope it inspires someone out there to be a little more green.

I can't believe how many people still don't recycle! Living in a state that does not (yet) have curbside or mandatory recycling everywhere, I understand that it is not the MOST convenient thing to collect then drive your recyclables to a collection center, but it is so easy to visualize your impact on the environment when you see your recycling pile overshadow your regular trash.

Thank you Meream. Yes, yesterday was my birthday, and I have been celebrating this occasion for the past week, since my sons came over last weekend for that occasion, then I had a nice luncheon at work, and this weekend at home again....wow...so much attention. It was lovely!!
