Simple advice for a better life.

Party Time - Appetizer tableYou don’t have to be a fan of the New England Patriots, or the New York Giants, or even a football fan at all, but you still can have lots of fun attending a Super Bowl Party.

Everyone is always looking forward to the excitement of the game, the half-time entertainment, the greatest commercials, and of course, lots of delicious food, and plenty of drinks.

I had a discussion with someone about different foods people like to try, and she told me about the Rocky Mountain Oysters, which she actually sampled before, and enjoyed it.

This dish is considered a delicacy in the Western States of the US, as well as in some parts of Canada.

I definitely am not about to prepare it, or sample the finished product (I am not that adventurous with food), but if you have the ingredients, and want to make it for your party, then here is a recipe I found for you.

As for me, I would suggest the following party foods for this Super Bowl Party:

These are the hearty party foods I have posted previously, and am convinced that your party goes will absolutely adore them.

I would like to hear about the different foods you included in your Super Bowl Party menu.  Thank you.

Enjoy the game, the food, and have lots of fun!!

Go Patriots!!

If you are planning a New Year get-together with your friends, but still searching around for some party food recipes, I am here to help out.

To make this party planning a little less stressful for you, I am posting the links to some of the party foods recipes I have posted so far this year (there will be more by the end of the New Year…thanks for being a friend).

Preparing these will keep you busy, but you will be basking in glory of compliments from your friends, as these are very popular and delicious party foods, which I personally tasted and used at my parties.

You can also include:

  • Vegetable tray with dip -  (selection of baby carrots, grape tomatoes, red, green and yellow peppers, cut up celery sticks , sliced cucumbers, with your favorite dip).
  • Cheese and crackers – arrange different cheeses cut up to bite size pieces with your favorite crackers.
  • Kobasa  with party bread, or rye bread – Ukrainian or Polish smoked sausage, sliced up cold, or boiled for 20 minutes, cooled slightly, then sliced up.
  • Canapés – If you still have some spare time, you can make small canapés with a bite size chunk of bread, dab of mustard (Kosciusko Mustard is really good), slice of kobasa, and top it off with a slice of pickle, spear it all with a fancy toothpick, and arrange these in a single layer on a serving dish.  Looks great and tastes even better.
  • Chips and dip
  • Pretzels with dip
  • Pepperoni slices with cheese and crackers
  • Tray of fresh fruit
  • Pizza
  • Chicken Wings

I am sure these will help you out for this party, or any other future parties you may host, since Super Bowl is coming up very soon.

As for the rest of the party planning, let your imagination run wild.

Have a super party

and

HAPPY NEW  YEAR!!

Swedish MeatballsIf you are planning a party and need ideas to expand your menu beyond the chips and dips, Swedish Meatballs will do the trick.

You can make these from scratch, or buy ready made Italian Style frozen meatballs, and cook them in your own sauce.

I actually tried the ready made meatballs, and they taste wonderful, with so much less work.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Lbs. meatloaf mix ground meat (may use turkey, or beef)
  • 1 envelope onion soup
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp. Italian Seasoning
  • ½ cup Italian flavored bread crumbs
  • 14 oz. ketchup (2 cups)
  • 1Tbs. Italian Seasoning
  • 10 oz. current or apple jelly (3/4 cup)

Directions:

  1. Mix the ground meat, onion soup, egg, Italian seasoning and breadcrumbs together into a meatball mixture.
  2. Form small meatballs.
  3. Place them on a cookie sheet and bake in the oven at 425 degrees for 15 minutes per side, turning over once.
  4. While the meatballs are baking, prepare the sauce.
  5. Mix together ketchup, Italian seasoning and jelly.
  6. Add to meatballs
  7. Set the slow cooker on high and cook for 2 hours.

I serve my Swedish Meatballs right out of the slow cooker, keeping it on a warm setting, since they taste so much better when served warm.
