Flowers, Vegetables and Fruits in Cracow Garden

My sister shared pictures of her currently blooming flowers, some of her veggies and fruits.  All these plants will look very familiar to you all, but they are growing in a well-tended garden by my sister, in the suburbs of Cracow , Poland.

You enjoyed the beauty of the above flowers, now I will share a display of veggies and fruits which my sister uses during the season, plus cans the rest for later use.  She sure fills her retirement time with lots of love for nature.

This is her strawberry patch, but she also cultivates wild strawberries, blueberries, gooseberries, blackberries and raspberries.

This is a Red Currant  bush… a fruit plant I am thinking of adding to my garden as well.  I am totally impressed by the amount of currants ripening on this small bush…..amazing!

Check out this cherry tree…full of fruit as well.  I guess they are having a great year for their fruit bearing trees and bushes.

Just a glimpse of the Peach tree branch with luscious looking peaches waiting to ripen.  Actually this tree began from a mere peach pit my sister planted in her garden and it matured to a beautiful fruit bearing tree. What a delight!

You might not be familiar with this herb, as it is more popular in Europe than it is in the US.  It looks like overgrown Parsley, but it is Lovage, or Lubchyk.  Its fragrance reminds me of a cross between Celery and Parsley.

Yes, you guessed it…this is corn….but in Europe corn consumption as a vegetable is not as popular as it is in the US.  She grows corn to use as feed for her chickens.  Yes, she has few chickens; she and her husband moved out of the city of Cracow after they retired, so now they are enjoying the country life.

The Cherry Tomatoes are doing much better than mine so far.  Her gardening differs from mine in size and quantity.  She plants large quantities of everything, while I have a small garden and everything is for seasonal use only…:-)

You see the difference here…1/4 of her garden is so much bigger than my full garden…:-)
