Fish Consumption – Good or Bad for You?

We always have been told that eating fish is good for our system, especially due to the Omega-3-Fatty-Acids it contains.

Actually, there is a lot of truth to that, since fish is a low-fat, high protein food.

However, we have to be well-informed shoppers, in order to actually select the fish which is healthy for our consumption.

While shopping for fish, or enjoying it in a restaurant, we should not only pay attention to the type of fish we are selecting, and the price range, but also its origin:

Wild caught, or Farm-Raised/Farm-Bred
Imported, or from USA

Mom’s Favorite Pork Chops – Eastern European Recipe

I loved my mom’s cooking.  She had limited resources, but always  managed to prepare delicious meals for our family and friends.

I inherited her love of cooking and baking, and am a very lucky recipient of her hand-written recipes.  She loved collecting and trying different recipes, as much as I do.

The family tradition continues, as my daughter and granddaughter also enjoy culinary arts.

Sauerkraut Filled Varenyky – Suburbangrandma Recipe

Sauerkraut is basically pickled cabbage.  You either like it or hate it…I happen to love using sauerkraut in cooking and baking.

Not all sauerkraut tastes the same, so if you are not a big fan of it, maybe you should try different dishes prepared with this vegetable.

For this recipe I used really tasty sauerkraut….Bavarian style sauerkraut, which I purchased at Shop Rite, my local grocery.

It is so tasty, I can eat it just the way it is…right out of the jar…..has a slightly sweet taste..I highly recommend it.
