Vegetable Platter – Money Saver

Every time I see a ready assembled vegetable platter at a grocery store, just to pick up and go to a party, I cringe at its cost. I think it mostly reflects the price of labor, rather than the value of the veggies.

It doesn’t take a culinary genius to cut up raw vegetables, and to arrange them on a platter.

My Late Summer Flower Garden

My most favorite season is Spring, but Summer and early Autumn are next on my list.

I love the beauty of flowering plants, and wish they would last forever.  However, the hot weather and the upcoming Autumn season is already marking its presence in my summer garden.

Most of my vegetable plants are done for the season, except tomatoes, so I am hoping that my second try with seeding cucumbers, dill, parsley and red beets will be successful before the frost gets here.  I will keep you posted, as this is my first time ever trying to extend the growing season of these veggies and herbs.

One Hour French Bread – Quick and Delicious Homemade Bread Recipe

I love fresh bread, and lately have been testing many breads and rolls recipes.  They all are absolutely delicious.

Some require a little more time than others, but none are too labor intensive or difficult to achieve.

I always thought that the ” No Knead”  bread recipe was simple, and it is, but when I found this one for ONE HOUR bread, I could  not believe it, until I made it and found it absolutely effortless and delicious.

I would have made it into a baguette, but since I do not have a  special baking pan it requires, I used two loaf pans instead.

Pretty Flowers – A Nice Welcome Back

I have been away from home for a week to help out my children with their gardening plans, and to spend some quality time with my grandchildren.

As I returned home, my garden was full of blooms, full of tomatoes, zucchini and cucumbers.

Today I will share some pictures from mine and my children’s gardens.
