Jewish Apple Cake – Recipe

Rosh Hashanah is a Jewish religious holiday representing the New Year, so traditionally apples dipped in honey are part of the menu during this holiday.

Today I will post my recipe for a Jewish Apple Cake, which was given to me by a friend a couple of decades ago. I was not sure what made this particular recipe “Jewish”, so I turned to my readers for their feedback. One reader explained that Jewish desserts are usually made without dairy, so they can be served alongside the meat dishes, which also makes it a great dessert for Hanukkah holiday. If anyone else has a different take on this theory, please share your comments

Ukrainian Kanapky – Open Face Sandwiches

These open-face sandwiches, which we call “Kanapky”, better known to my children as “church sandwiches” (since they always enjoyed them at a church bake sale), are very presentable on a party table, and extremely tasty.

You can use the full slice of bread, for a filling kanapka, but for parties I prefer to cut each slice of bread in half, or even into thirds as for tea party kind of appetizers.  Then you use the other ingredients in proportion to your bread size.

They are so delicious…almost addictive… and you will not just have one…I assure you of that.

Creamy and Fruity Jello Dessert – Recipe

This hot summer weather is calling for lots of quick to prepare light meals, thus lots of salads and refreshing desserts.

Jello desserts are one of my favorite desserts for the summer, because they are light, and served cold.

Kathy’s Three Layer Jello Dessert – Recipe

This is one of my family’s favorite jello desserts, because it can be made from regular jello, or sugar free jello, without jeopardizing its texture, or taste.
