I have 3 different sizes of slow cookers, so one would think that I would use them often, but it’s just the opposite. I hardly ever use them, so when Maureen Locos Hewett shared this recipe for ribs with kraut prepared in a slow cooker, I decided to test it. It came out great! The meat was so tender…falling off the bones…and the kraut was very flavorful. The only thing I changed was that I used less broth, and more veggies…I added shredded carrots and chopped celery, plus some caraway seeds. I love caraway seeds in sauerkraut.
Today I will post her recipe for Zwiebel Kuchen, which her daughter absolutely loves, and it’s a must on her birthday menu.
It is a well known fact that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It provides your body with the necessary “fuel” to start your day.
As you already read in my log, I am using a pressure cooker on regular basis, for cooking quick meals on a busy day. I will share a few of my favorite pressure cooker recipes. Here is one for Spareribs with Barbecue Sauce. My family likes this dish served with boiled, chunky potatoes, seasoned with sauteed onions, salt and pepper to taste.
These open face sandwiches, which we call “Kanapky”, or better know to my children as “church sandwiches” (since they always enjoyed them at a church bake sale), are very presentable on a party table, and extremely tasty.
You can use the full slice of bread, for a filling kanapka, but for parties I prefer to cut each slice of bread in half, or even into thirds as for tea party kind of appetizers. Then you use the other ingredients in proportion to your bread size.
They are so delicious…almost addictive… and you will not just have one…I assure you of that.
