Thanksgiving is fast approaching, family and friends are finalizing their travel arrangements, turkey is defrosting, Black Friday is inevitable, and most of all,
TIME TO GIVE THANKS:
I AM THANKFUL:
FOR THE HUSBAND
WHO IS ON THE SOFA
BEING A COUCH POTATO,
BECAUSE HE IS HOME WITH ME
AND NOT OUT AT THE BARS.FOR THE WIFE
WHO SAYS IT’S HOT DOGS TONIGHT,
BECAUSE SHE IS HOME WITH ME,
AND NOT OUT WITH SOMEONE ELSEFOR THE TEENAGER
WHO IS COMPLAINING ABOUT DOING DISHES
BECAUSE IT MEANS SHE IS AT HOME,
NOT ON THE STREETS.FOR THE TAXES I PAY
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I AM EMPLOYED.FOR THE MESS TO CLEAN AFTER A PARTY
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE
BEEN SURROUNDED BY FRIENDSFOR THE CLOTHES THAT FIT A LITTLE TOO SNUG
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I HAVE ENOUGH TO EAT.FOR MY SHADOW THAT WATCHES ME WORK
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I AM OUT IN THE SUNSHINEFOR A LAWN THAT NEEDS MOWING,
WINDOWS THAT NEED CLEANING,
AND GUTTERS THAT NEED FIXING
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE A HOME.FOR ALL THE COMPLAINING
I HEAR ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT
BECAUSE IT MEANS
WE HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH.FOR THE PARKING SPOT
I FIND AT THE FAR END OF THE PARKING LOT
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM CAPABLE OF WALKING
AND I HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH TRA NSPORTATION.FOR MY HUGE HEATING BILL
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I AM WARM.FOR THE LADY BEHIND ME IN CHURCH WHO SINGS OFF KEY
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I CAN HEAR.FOR THE PILE OF LAUNDRY AND IRONING
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I HAVE CLOTHES TO WEARFOR WEARINESS AND ACHING MUSCLES
AT THE END OF THE DAY
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE BEEN
CAPABLE OF WORKING HARD.FOR THE ALARM THAT GOES OFF
IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM ALIVE.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!!!!!

1Vlodia, Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. For all the complaining we might do, all these things are so true – and what a great time to remember that. What great inspirational words to start my day. And, for all the noise my kids make that drive me crazy: I can hear them and they are happy and healthy. Teresa

3Happy Thanksgiving to you Teresa, and your family.
Wouldn’t we be much happier people if we could only remember these words every time we feel like complaining?????
However, we are only human, and complaining is part of our nature.

5Happy Thanksgiving! I love this little poem and have seen it before. How true it is! How was your holiday? Did you cook or let someone take over?

6Thank you Diana. Hopefully your Thanksgiving was wonderful, and this is your last one as a single lady…..your special day is getting closer and closer!!!
I cooked the whole meal, and all my children with their families came over. My husband and I really enjoyed the whole clan in our home together again.
Yes, I received this poem via email, and I really liked it, so I decided to post it.
